A local independent coffee merchants, Paddy & Scott’s celebrated its 10th anniversary on Thursday 10 August serving free birthday cookies in their Bury St Edmunds and Hadleigh cafes’. The Paddy & Scotts baristas got into the spirit of the day with Founder & CEO Scott Russell serving artisan coffee and sharing the fun; sporting a new Paddy & Scott’s branded t-shirt with the slogan: ‘Things ground this good are usually illegal’ part of their exciting new range of merchandise available on-line.
“It’s a bit of fun – Every single shot of espresso we serve in our joints is ground to order” said Scott. When you meet him, you can certainly feel the energy and passion he has for Paddy & Scott’s – this is no ordinary café…
Over the last decade the dynamic Suffolk business has certainly gained its wings – expanding from roasting coffee beans in Scott’s garage (in an old two kilo roaster named “Old Smokey”) to producing over 90,000 cups of coffee per day with over 150 branded concessions across the UK and trade exports to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Moscow and expanding to the Middle East.
Paddy & Scott’s supplies slow-roasted coffee to some of the finest restaurants in the UK, favoured by celebrity chefs and enjoyed in some of London’s finest Hotels, as well as large corporates: BP, Virgin Atlantic, Sony, HP, O2 and Barclays.

As part of the 10th anniversary ‘Fuelling Ambition’ initiative Paddy & Scott’s have refreshed their iconic brand launching a new website and range of merchandise. The on-line shop is a new venture with sales of their raunchy t-shirts already a sell-out.
But it doesn’t stop there, Paddy & Scott’s are leading the way with an unprecedented project involving a Kenyan coffee farm – a ‘coffee revolution’ redressing the balance of trade; bringing coffee direct from your own coffee tree. A feat thats never been done before. The groundbreaking community driven venture, has been under development for the last 12 months; and will be launched in September for the Christmas gift market.

Paddy & Scott’s were one of the first UK coffee merchants to embrace aluminum free and fully recyclable packaging and were proudly chosen to help launch Frugalpac coffee cups earlier this year whilst their re-useable cups are hugely popular. “We even re-use our coffee ground waste, it’s a great fertilizer” – commented Jess Palmer Paddy & Scott’s Service Co-ordinator. It’s no surprise Paddy & Scott’s are receiving national acclaim – it’s one of the UKs Top 250 Company (part of Accelerate 250, a community of the UK’s top 250 companies geared for growth), they also received an Industry Award for creating a barista quality control app, which is used throughout their cafes and branded concessions; hi-lighting their passion to deliver – a fundamental key to the Paddy and Scott’s business success.
